Every product that we include in our seasonal boxes and market is made ethically and sustainably — and in addition to the increased artisan activity and work that we create through our artisan partners, we are focused on raising awareness for causes and charitable concerns each season.
In addition to creating meaningful opportunities for at-risk women across the world, sending over 100 girls in India to school through our partnership with Bloom & Give, and planting more than 10,000 trees through our partnership with Trees for the Future — we also work with different charities each season, donate to them directly, and we have just begun doing team volunteer days each month! Past charitable partners include: Freedom Firm, The Jessie Reese Foundation, Books for Africa, and Speak Your Silence.
For an illustration of the kind of artisan groups we support and opportunities our community is creating and environmental concerns we’re raising awareness for, see below:
- The Jenni Earle Wild + Free Bandana in our Spring 2020 Box sustainably employed 150 artisans in a safe and meaningful workplace. The handmade bandana was inspired by the women who made it, paying tribute to the art and architecture of India’s most renowned artisan region, the northern state of Rajasthan. All packaging was handmade into paper out of recycled cotton textile waste
- Through the partnership with Boon Supply on The Reusable Zip Pouches in our Winter 2021 Box, not only did each set of pouches replace more than 1500 single-use bags, but in partnership we were also proud to support Teach For America, an organization working toward the day when every child will receive an excellent and equitable education.
In our Spring 2021 we were proud to partner with FEED on the Canvas Market Tote. In partnership with FEED, we were proud to support their on-the-ground giving partners working to solve childhood hunger and food insecurity. Together, we were able to help provide 900,000+ school meals to children in need around the world and right here in America.
- Our partnership with Zeal Living on the Marble Geo Coasters in our Winter 2021 Box helped to empower and employ 274 artisans. In line with our efforts to create a more inclusive workforce, for this project our manufacturing team partnered with an organization that trains and equips people with disabilities to work in a professional environment. Our artisan for this project, David, joined the team through this organization. He is speech and hearing impaired with an enthusiastic and curious attitude, and worked on the quality control and packaging team for this project.
Every product in each seasonal box has a powerful and meaningful story like this (there are hundreds so far) — and this doesn’t even scratch the surface! We tell all of the details of the stories in the Guide to the Season that comes in the box — and on our social media channels throughout the season!
